Ecovert FM and Cabinet Office in Joint Energy Efficiency Achievement
Ecovert FM, the Total Facilities Management supplier to the Cabinet Office, is delighted that its client achieved the Energy Efficiency Accreditation Scheme (now the Carbon Trust Standard) for its 595,000 square feet Whitehall Estate.
Following the appointment of a joint Ecovert FM-Cabinet Office energy manager, aspects of the energy chain were considered such as checking rates, monitoring usage and implementing energy-saving schemes such as the installation of automatic lighting controls and encouraging staff to turn off their PCs at night.
According to Ian Didcock, Cabinet Office Environmental Systems Manager, “We were among one of the first government departments to achieve this standard and in doing so, we reduced the estate energy consumption by over 1,000,000 kWh. This is the equivalent to over 370,000 kg of carbon dioxide.”
The Carbon Trust Standard certifies that an organisation has genuinely reduced its carbon footprint and is committed to making further reductions year on year.
